How to Comfort a Crying Just Born Baby

Just born babies are a bundle of joy to any household. They are cute and very adorable. But not when they start crying and crying and you have absolutely no idea why they are fussy and why they are crying so loud. Below are useful tips to help comfort a crying just born baby.

Carry your baby around. Just born babies like to be carried around and kept near the body of another person for the heat the other body provides. Also, a just born baby has been accustomed to the constant moving around in the womb, so having to lie still most of the time is something that your newborn is still getting used to. When a just born baby cries and he quiets down when you carry him around, you know you were able to console your newborn.

Check his diapers. Perhaps the reason your just born baby is crying is because he needs a diaper change. Always check for regular diaper changes as just born babies easily wet or soil their diapers at any given time. They have yet to develop their digestive system properly so they will soil their diapers every so often. Since your just born baby won’t be able to tell you that he needs a diaper change, he will cry his heart out until you do.

Feed your child. Another possible reason your just born baby may be crying is that he is hungry. Feed your just born baby regularly so that he is satisfied. For those who breastfeed, the usual regular feeding time is about 2-3 hours every so often or when the baby shows signs that he is hungry. For those who are on formula, the feeding hours are around 3-4 depending on the appetite of your just born baby. Feeding is one of the common signs why just born babies cry.

Wrap your just born baby in a blanket. Because just born babies are still adjusting to the temperature, they easily get cold so it is always best to swaddle them in a receiving blanket or clothes that will keep them warm. The key is to keep them from getting cold as they easily get the chills. When your just born baby stops crying after being swaddled, chances are he was feeling a bit cold and crying was his way of telling you.

Consoling a crying just born baby can prove to be stressful for first time parents who are still adjusting to having a child of their own. It takes getting used to but after a few weeks, they will already get into routine and everything will be easier.
